Material identity
WC6 is an alloy-steel casting grade covered by ASTM A217/A217M. It is not ordinary carbon steel or stainless steel. Identify the body, gate, stem, seats and bolting separately; a WC6 body does not establish the material of every wetted component.
Gate movement and service
The stem mechanism moves the gate linearly to open or close the flow passage. It does not regulate flow by rotating a disc. A conventional isolation gate valve is normally used fully open or fully closed; continuous throttling requires a suitable design and application review.
Class 600 and operating limits
Class 600 is a rating designation, not a fixed operating pressure or a universal PN conversion. Check the applicable material group, design temperature and pressure-temperature rules, together with limits of the complete valve.
Connections and documentation
Confirm flange dimensions, facing, face-to-face length, actuator arrangement and operating clearance against the approved drawing. Design and test standards must correspond to the offered construction; a generic list of API, ASME and ISO references is not proof that every standard is satisfied.
Enquiry and technical documents
Provide fluid composition, normal and maximum pressure and temperature, flow, size, connections and operating requirements. Verify the selected data sheet, assembly drawing, material documents and agreed tests; do not transfer ratings from a different product.
