Operation and selection
A knife gate moves linearly across the flow passage to open or isolate the line. Suitability for a particular slurry must be checked against its solids, particle size, abrasiveness and chemistry; the word “slurry” does not establish that every seat can cut hard particles or seal in both directions. This version has pneumatic operation and flanged connections. Confirm the cylinder thrust at minimum available air pressure, valve stroke, feedback and the required loss-of-air response.
Information for a quotation
Send the slurry composition, solids concentration and size distribution, normal and design temperature/pressure, maximum shutoff differential, pipe size, flange details and cycling frequency. Ask for the actual material schedule, dimensional drawing, seat direction and closure-test conditions. Operating limits, actuator accessories and certificates must be confirmed for the supplied configuration.

Can it be used continuously half open?
For continuous throttling, request a configuration evaluated for the operating opening, differential pressure and expected wear.
Is bidirectional tight shutoff guaranteed?
No. Confirm the seat design, permitted flow direction and leakage acceptance under the stated test conditions.
What is needed for a replacement?
Provide the existing nameplate, installation dimensions, pipe flange standard, available space and operating conditions; a matching nominal diameter alone is insufficient.
