Separate the body from the lining
The catalogue identifies a WCB cast-steel body, flanged connections and worm-gear operation. WCB describes the metal body, not the wetted lining. Specify the actual lining and the materials of the ball, stem, seats and seals on the quotation. PFA, FEP and PTFE are different fluoropolymers; a general catalogue title is not a bill of materials for the ordered valve.
How the worm-gear operator works
Turning the input drives the worm and wheel, transmitting reduced-speed rotary motion to the valve stem and ball. The wheel does not travel linearly along the worm to open the valve. Gear operation is not evidence of quick-closing duty, automatic pressure control or precise throttling.
Evaluate the complete lined assembly
Provide fluid composition and concentration, temperature, pressure, vacuum conditions if any, solids and cycling duty. Confirm chemical compatibility and the documented operating limits of the actual liner and assembly. Do not transfer raw-polymer temperature properties directly into a valve rating. Protect the lining and flange faces during installation and use the supplied assembly and tightening instructions.
Frequently asked questions
Are PFA, FEP and PTFE just different names for the same lining?
No. Identify the exact liner and wetted components in the offered material list. Do not select by the phrase fluorine lined alone.
Does the gearbox guarantee accurate flow regulation?
No. It provides mechanical operation. State any regulating duty separately so the valve, trim and actuator arrangement can be assessed.
Is the valve suitable for every acid or for vacuum service?
Provide fluid composition, concentration, pressure and temperature, including any vacuum duty, to select a compatible lining and complete valve configuration.

Prepare a quotation for this valve
For corrosive service, specify the wetted materials and the actual chemical duty—not just the metal body or a general liner name.
- Chemistry
Fluid composition, concentration, solids and cleaning chemicals or cycles.
- Limits to assess
Normal/upset temperature and pressure, any vacuum duty, differential pressure and cycling frequency.
- Assembly
Required liner and wetted parts, flange interface, operator clearance and installation orientation.
Documents to agree before supply
- Confirmed liner and wetted-parts material list
- Approved assembly and flange drawing
- Offered operating limits and lining-specific installation instructions
Ask which documents are available for the offered configuration and agree their scope before supply. A catalogue picture is not a certified drawing or test report.
